Regram of great night time shot by @rachelbujalski who is staying in the encampment this week! (See her feed for original horizontal format which I of course bastardized because of my penchant for the consistency of squares)

Getting back into the routine… It's our last week of open season in the Wagon Station Encampment. This morning for power hour we excavated the final corner of a future sunken garden area that will connect to the back side of the shipping container compound. Open season seemed short this year – can't believe that it's already ending!

Berlin Tegel to JFK to LAX… 34 hours of travel due to cancelled flights and re-routing. Now finally in my truck on the 10 heading east through an incredible storm. Almost there.

Incredible work by Joseph Beuys at the Hamburger Bohnhoff – Made for Muenster in 1977 as a critique of some of the underlying motives of urban planning – Beuys chose the worst site possible ("a dead corner under a concrete overpass, in which nothing but dirt could collect”) and filled it with twenty tons of mutton fat along with a few drums of beef fat for extra firmness.  It sounds like a huge operation with fat being melted “day and night in a concrete factory just outside of Muenster which was then trucked in and poured into a cavity walled with massive reinforcements to hold the lard in place (the fat took three months to cool and harden) totally amazing.
